An end-of-inning celebration led to a full-on college baseball brawl in Alabama.

On Tuesday, Spring Hill College of the NAIA was hosting the University of Mobile and tensions skyrocketed in the bottom of the 11th inning with the score tied at 5-5.

With two outs and two runners on base, Spring Hill’s Seth Williams popped up on a pitch from Mobile’s Isidro Jimenez.

The ball soared behind home plate, which the Mobile catcher caught to end the frame.

Once the ball was snagged, Jimenez kneeled down on the diamond, screaming in celebration but toward the direction of Williams, who was on his way back to the dugout.

However, Jimenez’s elation rubbed Williams the wrong way and he quickly turned around to get into the face of the junior right-hander.

The two immediately began yelling at each other and bumped one another.

Only moments later, both benches cleared and a brawl formed around home plate as the game quickly got out of control.

After lots of pushing and shoving, the game was suspended.

“During Tuesday’s baseball game between Spring Hill and Mobile, play was suspended after the 11th inning following an on-field altercation involving members of both teams,” Spring Hill College said in a statement to WKRG 5.

“SHC holds all of our student-athletes and coaches to the highest standards of conduct and sportsmanship. What occurred does not reflect the values of our program or institution.”

The outburst is under review by the Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference, Southern States Athletic Conference and the umpires.

Jimenez ended the game with one hit and three walks across two innings pitched.
