Maybe he should have checked with Robinson Cano first.
Jay Z committed a baseball faux pas at the “SNL 40” afterparty on Sunday night when he confused two portly pitchers who were on opposite sides of the Yankees-Red Sox rivalry.
The rap mogul, who also owns the sports agency Roc Nation Sports, asked former Yankees lefty David Wells about the infamous bloody sock from the 2004 ALCS. One problem? The sock belonged to Curt Schilling, who helped pitch the Red Sox past the Yankees and into the World Series that season, despite an ankle injury.
Wells’ former Yankees teammate David Cone witnessed the scene and happily reported back:
Funniest story of the afterparty was when Jay Z thought @BoomerWells33 was Curt Shilling
and asked him about bloody sock— David Cone (@dcone36) February 19, 2015
