TAMPA — Prior to today’s game against the Pirates at George M. Steinbrenner Field, the Yankees will dedicate a memorial to those who lost their lives on 9/11.

Steel from the World Trade Center towers was recently presented to the Yankees by representatives of the Gene O’Kane Division of retired firefighters of New York City and is part of the monument.

The memorial is outside the entrance to Steinbrenner Field. It was made possible by Gerdau Ameristeel, which donated the steel, and Rustic Steel Creations, which created the monument. Delta Air Lines chose to sponsor this game as a tribute to the airline industry.

General partner and senior vice president Jennifer Steinbrenner Swindal will represent the Yankees and Steinbrenner family at the ceremony. george.king@nypost.com
