Brandon Nimmo submitted his entry for catch of the year in the Mets’ 2-1 win over the Dodgers on Wednesday night at Citi Field.
The Mets center fielder went all the way back to the wall in the bottom of the seventh inning to rob Dodgers slugger Justin Turner of a game-tying home run and keep the score 2-1.
Nimmo reacted with an emphatic fist-pump — and got a standing ovation from the Citi Field crowd and Mets ace Jacob deGrom.
“Every little thing matters in these games,” Nimmo said after the win. “We obviously have the Braves on our tail, and so we want to try to win all the games that we can, and it’s a sold-out crowd and it’s electric.”
