Thanks a lot, Greg.

Braves legend Greg Maddux was all too happy to kick the Mets while they were down on Tuesday night, shortly after Atlanta clinched the NL East.

“Even after 2 decades it’s still nice to see the Braves beat the New York Mets. Congrats Atlanta!” the Hall of Famer tweeted on Tuesday night.

The Braves did, in fact, complete an epic comeback from 10 1/2 games down in the division with a 2-1 victory over the Marlins on Tuesday night. Atlanta will now be the No. 2 seed in the MLB playoffs. The Mets will have to play a best-of-three series with the Padres this weekend at Citi Field in the wild-card round. The winner of that series will play the Dodgers in the NLDS.

“To keep plugging along and the consistency that these guys showed throughout the whole year,” Braves manager Brian Snitker said. “Coming to work every day and worrying about today. They didn’t get caught up that we were behind.”

The Braves ripped the division lead away from the Mets this past weekend with a three-game sweep in Atlanta. That turned a one-game Braves deficit into a two-game lead and it put their magic number to one heading into Miami.

“I am feeling so much happiness and joy,” star outfielder Ronald Acuña said after the defending World Series champs claimed their fifth straight NL East title. “Last year, I couldn’t experience this because of my injury. I am so happy to be a part of this club.”

Maddux was the ace of a Braves team that dominated the division throughout most of the 1990s and early 2000s. The right-hander, who went 35-19 with a 3.36 ERA in 66 career starts against the Mets, was inducted into the Hall of Fame in 2014.
