The Braves sounded off triumph trumpets for the Mets’ woes Sunday.
In the midst of a rain delay against the Marlins, and to the news of the Nationals winning a series against the NL East-leading Mets, Atlanta’s Truist Park played Blasterjaxx and Timmy Trumpet’s “Narco.”
The horn-infused hit serves as Mets closer Edwin Diaz’s walkout song and as a rallying anthem for the Citi Field faithful. Recently, Trumpet even graced Mets fans with his presence to play out Diaz last Wednesday.
With its viral popularity this season due to Diaz’s reemergence as one of the league’s top closers, rival NL East teams have also used it to poke fun at the Mets — just as Atlanta did on Sunday.
Braves catcher William Contreras also uses ‘Narco’ as his walk-up music, but Trumpet and Blasterjaxx endorsed Diaz’s exclusive use of the song last week.
