The Post has learned the breakdown of the three-year, $54 million contract that Ryan Howard signed on Sunday with the Phillies:

He will earn $15 million in 2009, $19 million next season and $20 million in 2011. The bases in 2010 and 2011 would increase by $1 million if Howard were to win the MVP in the preceding season or $500,000 if he finished second in the voting.

In addition, he would earn $1 million in 2011 if he won the MVP or $500,000 for second.

Despite being a poor defender, Howard has a clause that pays him $100,000 if he wins the Gold Glove. He also would earn $100,000 for the World Series MVP, Silver Slugger or being an All-Star starter. He would get $50,000 for simply being selected to the All-Star Game or winning the LCS MVP.
