The Mets have shut down closer Billy Wagner, perhaps for the rest of the season, after more elbow woes cut short his simulated game at Shea Stadium this afternoon. Wagner, who was only able to make it through one batter, said he would have his left elbow re-examined Monday. The 36-year-old veteran has been on the DL since Aug. 3 with a strained left forearm and swelling in his left elbow. We will have more on this later and in Monday’s editions of The Post. 11 P.M. UPDATE:Jerry Manuel said after the Mets’ 6-3 win in Game 2 that Wagner is “probably” done for the rest of the year.
