When a team is rolling like the Yankees are it is easy to have fun, and outfielder Brett Gardner was the butt of a clubhouse joke.
When Gardner got to his locker at the beginning of the rain delay he found a printout of a tweet by former teammate Phil Hughes making fun of his opposite-field homer.
“Gardy is my boy, but if he’s going oppo the league has a baseball problem.” Hughes joked about Gardner’s third-inning blast in the Yankees’ 6-3 win over the Phillies.
As for who put the printout on his seat, Gardner has started the investigation.
“I’ve got some ideas, so we will do a little more analysis. We have quite a bit of baseball ahead of us and I have a few pranks up my sleeve,” Gardner said.
