On the same day the Milwaukee Brewers were eliminated from the playoff race, some fans received playoff tickets in the mail, reports WTMJ Radio (via Deadspin).
Other fans had previously received playoff tickets.
The team was officially knocked out of the postseason race following a 5-3 loss to the Cincinnati Reds on Thursday evening.
But even before the team’s latest setback, it was clear that the team — which started the season 20-7, and sat atop the National League Central division for 150 days – was unlikely to make it to October after weathering a 4-16 stretch between August and September.
As unlikely as it may have been, the arrival of tickets during the day didn’t make the monumental collapse any easier to take, a fact many Brewers fans voiced on Twitter on Thursday.
