Brodie Van Wagenen already is getting into the swing of things.
The new Mets general manager — who started in right field for Stanford during the 1993 and 1994 seasons — showed he still can swing the bat in a video he posted on Twitter on Wednesday.
“One week left until I report for spring training,” the former agent said in the video. “As you can see from these swings, I still need a lot of work on my swing. Hopefully our players are more ready to go than I am.
“You know what I think I am ready for? GM home run derby. Any challengers? Lets go Mets.”
Brian Cashman, it looks like you’ve just been issued a challenge.
Mets pitchers and catchers report to spring training on Feb. 14. Position players have to report to spring training by Feb. 18, and the first full-squad workout will be on Feb. 19.
