If LA money won’t lure him, maybe Chicago friendship can.

Bryce Harper and Kris Bryant, pals dating back to their childhood, spent New Year’s Eve with their wives in Las Vegas on a double date that could mean absolutely nothing and could mean everything to Cubs fans.

Every move by Harper, who’s still waiting out his free agency in which hundreds of millions are at stake, is being chronicled; last week, he excited the Dodgers fanbase when he “liked” a post on Instagram suggesting they were the favorites for his services.

On Monday night, it was Jessica Bryant, wife of the Cubs’ third baseman, doing the chronicling, detailing the quartet ringing in the new year with fireworks, gambling and photo booths.

The Dodgers already cleared space for a massive Harper splash, sending Yasiel Puig and Matt Kemp to Cincinnati. According to the Chicago Sun-Times, the Cubs have asked Harper agent Scott Boras to hold off on picking a team until they have had time to clear some payroll, too.

Bryant and Harper have been friends since they were preteens on the same Vegas baseball team. Soon we’ll see whether they’ll be reunited for more than a holiday.
