Ambiorix Burgos had a three-pitch sequence today against Lastings Milledge that went like this:

-high heat that Milledge foul-tipped

-broken-bat pop-up

-weak grounder to second, after which Milledge said “ow” After the Mets traded for Burgos, Kansas City GM Dayton Moore said something about how Burgos had the potential down the road to close games, and I can completely see it. Could Burgos be the Mets’ closer in 2010 after Billy Wagner’s contract is up?

By the way, in a later turn against Burgos, Milledge used his terrific bat speed to rip a line shot into left field.
