With the season fully underway, it’s time for the latest editions of the Beating the Bushes Players of the Week, this time for the week of April 13. The award for the Yankees was an easy one, as Shelley Duncan literally powered the Scranton/Wilkes Barre Yankees to another undefeated week. Duncan went 10-for-27 (.370) with four home runs, 13 RBI and 11 runs scored in six games for SWB.
For the Mets, I decided to go with St. Lucie shortstop Reese Havens. The second of the Mets three first-round draft picks in 2008, Havens continued his hot start to the season, going 8-for-25 (.320) with a double, triple, homer and three RBI.
Previous winners:
April 6-12: Juan Miranda, 1B, Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes Barre; Greg Veloz, 2B, High-A St. Lucie.
