It looks like the Mets aren’t quite ready to announce Carlos Beltran’s fate.
According to The Post’s Mike Puma, the Mets aren’t expected to address the newly minted manager’s status on Wednesday, as part of the continued fallout of the Houston Astros’ cheating saga.
Beltran was the only player implicated in Major League Baseball’s exhaustive report involving the Astros’ sign-stealing scandal, but the new Mets manager avoided punishment.
No players were punished, but the league suspended Astros manager A.J. Hinch and GM Jeff Luhnow for one season each, and both subsequently were fired.
On Tuesday, the Red Sox fired manager Alex Cora after the league determined he helped orchestrate the cheating operation while Houston’s bench coach in 2017.
The league found Houston cheated in 2017 and parts of 2018, using a center field camera that helped pick up catchers’ signs to be relayed to the Astros’ dugout.
This storm has put pressure on the Mets to decide whether to keep Beltran.
