Awaiting results from the latest series of tests on Phil Hughes’ pitching arm, Yankees GM Brian Cashman said Wednesday the team will be without the right-hander for “a while.”

Hughes underwent a dye MRI exam , CT scan, nerve tests and a host of other examinations over the past two days.

“They are trying very hard to find out what is going on,’’ GM Brian Cashman said of Hughes. “It’s always concerning when you don’t have somebody pitching active for you. He’s not active, and it does not look like he will be for a while.’’

Hughes was expecting results before Wednesday night’s first pitch vs. the White Sox.

“Yeah, I hope, unless he wants to get second opinions about it, then maybe another day or two,’’ Hughes said. “If he sees what he needs to see from the testing, and he’s ready to give me something, hopefully I’ll know something soon.”

Hughes has been on the disabled list since April 15 after complaining of a “dead arm.” He cut short a bullpen session Monday, prompting the latest medical visits.
