Forget about Manny Ramirez coming to the Yankees, either.
GM Brian Cashman reiterated yesterday the Bombers will not pursue the free-agent slugger.
“I do hear the rumblings,” Cashman said. “People expect us to get in on Manny. But that’s not going to happen. We’re tapped.
“I hope he stays in the National League. Let him stay out on the West Coast.”
The Dodgers hope that can still happen, though Ramirez doesn’t like their latest deal.
He rejected their third offer – a one-year, $25 million offer – on Monday. It would have made him baseball’s second-highest paid player behind Alex Rodriguez.
