Second baseman Luis Castillo appears headed for a DL stint after reporting continued soreness in his strained left quadriceps. Willie Randolph had hoped to use Castillo tonight against the Nationals, but Castillo nixed that after a pregame workout.

GM Omar Minaya said the Mets would wait a couple of more days before making a DL decision on Castillo but don’t want to play short-handed for too long.

Damion Easley, who had two errors Tuesday night, will start at second again this evening, although the Mets might use Fernando Tatis at that spot in the next few days.
