(UPDATED) The Mets swung their second trade of the day after tonight’s 2-1 win over the Marlins, breaking their logjam at catcher by sending Ramon Castro to the White Sox for right-handed pitcher Lance Broadway. A trade was necessary at catcher with starter Brian Schneider scheduled to come off the disabled list Saturday and Omir Santos — the star of tonight’s win with his RBI single in the 11th — continuing to play so well.

Broadway, 25, will report immediately to Triple-A Buffalo after going 0-1 with a 5.65 ERA in eight games with the White Sox this year. The 6-3, 195-pounder also made three starts for Chicago’s Triple-A affiliate in Charlotte, recording a 0-2 record and 5.63 ERA.

The former first-round pick in 2005 out of Texas Christian made his major-league debut in 2007. Broadway had been part of the proposed Jake Peavy trade this month before Peavy scotched that deal.
