CC Sabathia was removed from Friday night’s start against the Orioles after four innings due to soreness in his right hip, and was set to undergo an MRI exam.

The 37-year-old, who threw five innings in his first appearance of the season, left the game with the Yankees trailing, 3-2, after throwing 58 pitches. He had allowed four hits and three runs, coming on two solo homers from Manny Machado, and another solo shot by Chris Davis.

It is unclear who would take Sabathia’s spot in the rotation, if the southpaw is forced to miss time.
