In addition to CC Sabathia there were several Yankees who might have played their last game with the club if the Red Sox won Game 4.
Andrew McCutchen, Neil Walker, David Robertson, Happ, Lance Lynn, Adeiny Hechavarria and Zach Britton will be free agents following the World Series. The Yankees have a $12.5 million option on Brett Gardner for the 2019 season with a $2 million buyout.
Aaron Judge entered Game 4 having hit safely in all four postseason games this year and was 8-for-16 (.500) with three homers and four RBIs.
Boone said he didn’t see the criticism he received after Game 3 but knew it was circulating.
“Because of the texts I have received to hang in there,’’ Boone said. “You know what you signed up for. It’s very easy, we can all sit and second-guess, first-guess and that is one of the great things about our game, especially when you are passionate about the game.’’
Boone admitted the ride home after his club got pounded, 16-1, in Game 3 on Monday night wasn’t easy. However, he didn’t avoid turning the car radio on.
“The Bridge,’’ Boone answered when asked what he listened to on the drive. The SiriusXM station features mellow music which had to be soothing after the pounding the Red Sox put on Boone’s club.
