It’s been a rough start to the Venezuelan Winter League for Yankee catching prospect Francisco Cervelli, but that may have begun to swing the other way yesterday when he hit his first home run.

Cervelli has struggled so far, going 2-for-17 (.118) with the homer and RBI he picked up yesterday through nine games. The coach of Cervelli’s team, Cardenales de Lara, is former Yankee Luis Sojo, and he’s joined on the team by fellow Yankee prospects Carlos Mendoza and Edwar Gonzalez.
