Chase Utley hasn’t changed his hard-nosed approach on the base paths.

The Dodgers second baseman was involved in another controversial slide on Monday, when he used a cross-body approach to barrel into the plate against the Padres.

Utley, who had been hit by a pitch and was rounding the bases on Justin Turner’s double, was tagged out on the play by Padres catcher Derek Norris while he evaded the slide.

Utley’s takeout slide of Ruben Tejada in Game 2 of last year’s NLDS broke the shortstop’s leg and caused MLB to enact a new rule that says the runner must touch the ground on a slide before making contact with the fielder.

Utley was originally suspended for his hit on Tejada, but the ban was overturned during spring training.
