Maybe Tim Tebow could offer Curtis Granderson some outfield tips.
During the Mets’ 2-1 win over the Phillies on Friday night, Jacob deGrom saw his no-hit bid disappear in the fifth inning, after Granderson completely lost sight of the ball in what should have been a routine fly-out by Andrew Knapp but instead turned into a triple.
Meanwhile, more than 1,200 miles away in Fort Myers, Fla., Tebow, playing for the St. Lucie Mets, tracked down a fly ball that was launched to deep left field. The former Broncos and Jets quarterback made a spectacular leaping catch to take an extra-base hit away from the Fort Myers Miracle; a Twinsaffiliate.
Since being called up to High-A St. Lucie, Tebow has been acting like he deserved the promotion. He homered in his second game, and now can add a highlight-reel catch to his mixtape.
But Tebow’s defensive heroics weren’t enough for St. Lucie, which suffered an 11-0 blowout loss to Fort Myers.
Tebow went 0-for-2 with two strikeouts.
