The Mets sent Ryan Church back to New York today for further tests after the right fielder had to come out of Saturday night’s game because of dizziness. Church was examined by a neurologist he and the team have consulted before in the wake of two concussions he has suffered since early in spring training.

GM Omar Minaya said the club has no current plans to put Church on the DL because they think the dizziness is related to Church’s history of migraines and not to the concussions.

Although Minaya said a DL stint isn’t planned for Church, the Mets are likely to give Church significant rest even if the tests confirm the initial migraine-related suspicions.

Church spent more than three weeks on the DL in June because of post-concussion syndrome.
