The Mets have told Ryan Church (pictured) that he will not play again until 48 hours after any concussion-related symptoms have passed. Based on that timetable, Church said tonight that hopes to be back in right field Saturday or Sunday. âIâm good,â said Church, who played catch in the bullpen before tonight’s game with the Dodgers and anticipates jogging and catching fly balls Friday. âToday was the first day I didnât have to take medication.â
Church has not played in the field since suffering a slight concussion â- his second in three months — when his head collided with the knee of Braves shortstop Yunel Escobar May 22 in Atlanta.
