At least one big bat is on its way back to the Yankees.
Clint Frazier (ankle) will be activated from the 10-day injured list Monday just in time for the Bombers’ home series with the home-run heavy Seattle Mariners, manager Aaron Boone told reporters after his team’s 4-1 win Saturday over the Minnesota Twins.
The 24-year-old outfielder is the latest Yankee to exit the unrelenting injured list, following Miguel Andujar over the weekend, and will add more punch into a lineup that is beginning to shed its Triple-A facade.
Frazier landed on the IL, which has claimed 16 Yankees this season, in late April while slashing .324/.342/.632 with six home runs and 17 RBIs through 18 games. He rolled his left ankle getting back to second base on a pick-off attempt.
With Aaron Judge’s return date from an oblique injury unknown, compounded with Giancarlo Stanton (shoulder) and Aaron Hicks (back) still rehabbing, Frazier will be heavily relied upon as the club treks its way through a difficult stretch against teams currently over .500. The Mariners (19-17) lead MLB with 65 dingers through 35 games.
The Yankees optioned hurler Stephen Tarpley to Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre.
