Aaron Boone has rolled out 72 different lineups in 74 games this season.

Among his most difficult decisions, at least as of late, has been Clint Frazier vs. Miguel Andujar as his starting left fielder.

Frazier got the nod for Thursday’s series finale against the Royals, the third time in five games he had gotten the start in left field — after Andujar had started there in the last 11 games before then.

“It’s been a tough call for me every day, frankly,” Boone said before the game. “I wrestled with it even all the way to this morning. I definitely liked Clint’s at-bats [Wednesday]. … His collection of at-bats [Wednesday] were really strong. But Miggy’s earned opportunities too. It’s probably going to continue to be that way, where it’s a day-by-day thing. I’ll look into the matchup with what I think is the best matchup. But also, they’re going to continue to probably earn those consistent reps.”

Frazier started in right field Wednesday, with Andujar in left and Aaron Judge in center, and went 1-for-2 with a double and two walks. Andujar was 1-for-3 with a walk.

Andujar had taken over the job with a strong stretch of play from May 18 to June 12, when he hit .320 (24-for-75) with five home runs over 21 games. But in eight games entering Thursday since then, he was hitting .130 (3-for-23).

Frazier, meanwhile, was hitting .286 (4-for-14) — with all four of his hits being doubles — in his last six games before Thursday.

“Performances matter,” Boone said. “Obviously Miggy earned a lot of everyday reps there where he was gaining some traction. The matchup matters. The conversations I have with my coaching staff matter and factor into who I decide to go with. All those things.

“It’s been a tough decision for two players that I know if we get them going, can help us a lot.”
