TORONTO — Bartolo Colon pitched into the seventh inning to earn his first win in two years and the New York Yankees beat the Toronto Blue Jays 6-2 on Wednesday night.

Curtis Granderson homered for the AL East-leading Yankees, who won for the fifth time in seven games and remain the only major league team not to lose consecutive games this season.

Colon (1-1) allowed two runs and five hits in 6 2-3 innings to win for the first time since May 26, 2009, when he led the Chicago White Sox to a 4-2 victory over the Los Angeles Angels.

The right-hander struck out seven and walked two in his first major league start since July 24, 2009, for the White Sox. The 2005 AL Cy Young Award winner improved to 9-3 with a 3.60 ERA in 19 career games against the Blue Jays.
