DENVER — An injury-filled bust of a season for the Mets has been just plain frustrating for Frankie Rodriguez, who picked up his first save in 10 days Sunday in a 4-1 road win over the Cubs. This wasn’t what the All-Star closer had in mind when he left the Angels for New York last winter.

In the notes, Mets third-base coach Razor Shines has been an unmitigated disaster in his first season with the club. According to the Elias Sports Bureau, Shines has had a whopping 16 runners thrown out at the plate. Yes, 16. I wonder how many more wins the Mets would have if that number was a fourth or even a half of that total?
