Colleague Larry Brooks noted the irony of the Mets nearly running out of players Saturday despite baseball’s September roster expansion.

An investigation by our news-side folks finds Citi Field is plagued by water damage to several luxury suites, mold, falling signs and concrete, flooding in outfield seats, faulty electrical wiring and shoddy tile work. Other than that, it’s world class.

In the notes, John Maine was sharp in a minor-league rehab appearance and could be back in the rotation by next weekend.
