Things are definitely looking up in Met-land after a 7-5 win over the Phillies on Thursday night. The victory was the Mets’ fourth in a row, completed their second consecutive sweep and moved them within a half-game of Philadelphia in the NL East. Colleague Joel Sherman writes that Frankie Rodriguez, who remains perfect as the Mets’ closer so far, has solved their long-running ninth inning woes.

Colleague Mike Vaccaro, meanwhile, writes that the Mets now look awfully smart for refusing to sign the disgraced Manny Ramirez.

Much to the Mets’ relief, David Wright is finally in a groove.

Jamie Moyer had a long night.

In the notes, the Mets are giving lefty prospect Jonathon Niese a chance tonight to fill the spot vacated by Oliver Perez.
