PITTSBURGH — As if the Mets didn’t have enough craziness and injuries to deal with, they’re now in the middle of a swine-flu scare after SNY producer Dan Barr — a member of the team’s traveling party — was sent back to New York from Pittsburgh and is in isolation with a possible case of the illness. That heightened the concern about Carlos Beltran, who also is ill. With all of that swirling around, the Mets’ lack of run support for Johan Santana and eventual 3-1 loss to the Pirates were almost an afterthought.
In the notes, David Wright‘s big strikeout total recently has Jerry Manuel concerned.
