With a lineup that looked like something out of Triple-A, the Replace-Mets had no chance on paper and no chance in reality Saturday night against the Yankees’ A.J. Burnett. The result was an all-too-predictable 5-0 loss at Citi Field that marked the third shutout of the Amazin’s in 13 days. Colleague Mike Vaccaro writes that the dead bats the Mets keep sending out are tough to watch.

Considering their history, Alex Cora might have been the unlikeliest Met to break up Burnett’s no-hit bid.

Tim Redding held up surprisingly well for five innings before being done in by a dreadful sixth.

In the notes, Jerry Manuel admitted that finding playing time for Fernando Martinez is going to be difficult.

Finally, colleague Steve Serby has an interesting Sunday Q&A with Livan Hernandez, tonight’s starter.
