Coverage in today’s Post
The Mets’ “Willie or Won’t He?” circus continues. Willie Randolph (pictured) and all his coaches were on the Mets’ charter flight Sunday night to Anaheim, Calif., but according to GM Omar Minaya, that doesn’t guarantee they will finish the series with the Angels starting tonight. Minaya is coming on the trip, too, which is never a good sign for anyone’s job security. Colleague Jay Greenberg says the silence coming from Minaya and team ownership about the status of Randolph and his coaches is very telling.
Meanwhile, there was a game with Texas on Sunday — two of them, actually — and Pedro Martinez figured heavily in the Mets’ 4-2 win in nightcap that gave them a split.
In the notebook, we update Ryan Church’s recovery from post-concussion syndrome, as well as offer items on Robinson Cancel, Trot Nixon and the second-guessing of Willie’s strategy in Game 2.
