While it took more than eight mind-numbing hours (including rain delays) to complete, the Mets were riding high last night after Fernando Tatis’ two-run homer in the 12th inning powered their 4-2 road win over the Phillies. Colleague Mike Vaccaro describes the scene inside the Mets’ clubhouse with Ryan Church and Billy Wagner as they saw Tatis’ shot clear the fences and take Wagner off the hook for his blown save in the ninth.

The extra-inning win wasn’t the only highlight of Wagner’s day. He also was the only Met named to the NL All-Star team, although David Wright still has a chance to go to Yankee Stadium on July 15.

In the notebook, Church and the Mets continue to insist that his recent absences are due to migraines and not the two concussions he suffered this year. There is also an item on Orlando Hernandez.
