You don’t see bat every day.
In the fifth inning of what was a tie game at Citi Field before the Cubs eventually won, 1-0, Chicago’s Pete Crow-Armstrong swung through a good changeup from Jose Butto and launched his bat down the first-base line.
The bat helicoptered above the home dugout and hit the protective netting — and remained there.
The bat wedged its way in and got stuck in the netting for a few minutes before security took it down.

Pete Crow-Armstrong lost his bat and it got stuck in the netting on the first-base side. SNY/XCrow-Armstong, the former Mets prospect who was flipped to the Cubs in the 2021 Javier Baez trade, ended up lifting a sacrifice fly that brought the Cubs the game’s lone run.
He finished the game 0-for-2, but his RBI proved to be the difference-maker.
