Someone else’s credit card — never leave the mound without it.
Left-hander Tsuyoshi Wada struck out nine in 4 2/3 innings in his season debut and scored the tying run to lead the Cubs to a 3-2 victory against the Padres on Wednesday night.
He was so money he picked up a credit card from near the third-base line at San Diego’s Petco Park after finishing the third inning.
“I’ll check my wallet,” Maddon said, according to MLB.com. “He’s going to go out and have a good time tonight.”
Wada, a 34-year-old from Japan, opened the season on the disabled list with a left groin strain and made six rehab starts. He struck out seven of the first nine Padres batters.
