Curtis Granderson won’t be using his left hand to hitch hike anytime soon.
The Mets announced Thursday the veteran outfielder underwent surgery to repair a ligament in his left thumb. Granderson is expected to be fully recovered by spring training.
Granderson jammed the thumb diving into second base in Game 3 of the NLCS at Wrigley Field, but later said the injury wasn’t affecting in his play.
In the World Series, Granderson had a 1.060 OPS with three homers and five RBIs.
Granderson hit three homers in the World Series with a bad thumb. With a good thumb he might he might have been Murphy-esque, circa NLCS.
