BOSTON — Don’t look for Johnny Damon anywhere but in the Yankees’ dugout today.

After fouling a ball off his right leg — near the knee — in the first inning of Friday night’s 20-11 beating of the Red Sox at Fenway Park, the left fielder is nursing a bruised knee that will keep him out indefinitely.

“No clue,” Damon said when asked how long he believed he would be sidelined.

How about today?

“It’s very unlikely,” said Damon, who was replaced in left by Eric Hinske, who went 2-for-4, drove in a run and scored two.

When Damon dropped to the dirt, he appeared to be seriously hurt, but he recovered to stay in the game and got called out looking. Nevertheless, Hinske was in left for the bottom of the first inning.

“It’s swollen and bruised and it hurts,” Damon said of his leg. “I guess I will deal with it, and hopefully I will be in the lineup soon.”
