Jose Reyes and David Wright will reunite on the left side of the Mets infield Saturday night in a probable farewell for both.

Manager Mickey Callaway said before the Mets’ 7-3 loss to the Braves Tuesday night that he plans to give Reyes the start at shortstop in Wright’s final game, letting the longtime teammates realize a dream of playing together again.

Reyes departed the organization after the 2011 season, and returned two-plus years ago — after Wright had undergone surgery to repair a herniated disk in his neck. Wright hasn’t played in a major league game since, but was activated from the disabled list on Tuesday. Reyes and Wright have spoken openly in recent years about his desire to play together again. The two formed an All-Star combo for eight seasons, beginning with Wright’s arrival to the Mets in 2004.

Reyes, who entered play with a .585 OPS, almost certainly will not return next season. The Mets signed him to a one-year deal worth $2 million last winter.
