PORT ST. LUCIE — Ike Davis has been cleared to resume workouts after returning to New York on Wednesday for what the Mets called a continuation of his physical.

A team spokesman said Davis’ absence had nothing to do with the ankle injury that sidelined the first baseman for most of last season. Davis is expected back on the practice field Thursday.

Mets players underwent physicals Tuesday at the team’s spring training complex.
