The Elias Sports Bureau released its official free-agent rankings today, and only two of eight eligible Mets — Carlos Delgado and Fernando Tatis — were declared worthy of draft-pick compensation.

Delgado and Tatis were declared Type B free agents, meaning the Mets would receive one “sandwich” pick in next summer’s first-year player draft if the club offers the two players arbitration by Dec. 1 and they sign elsewhere.

Meanwhile, Gary Sheffield filed for free agency today, becoming the sixth of eight eligible Mets to do so.
