Carlos Delgado has more than put himself into the MVP debate. He has resuscitated his Hall of Fame candidacy, which definitely was going to fall short had he not revived his career. His case is still going to be borderline, especially if he does not follow this stellar 2008 with more excellence in the future. But he definitely spruced his credentials for Cooperstown.

He has never won an MVP award, so that obviously would help his candidacy greatly if he won this year. He certainly seems headed toward a fourth top-six result, which also helps. Delgado already has registered his ninth career season of 30 homers and 100 RBIs. Here is the list of players who have done that more often:
