But put other team names on the front of the jerseys, and those teams advance to the World Series.
Earlier this season in June, the Mets wore throwback jerseys of the Brooklyn Royal Giants, who played in the Negro Leagues from 1905-1942. And wouldn’t you know it, the Royals and Giants will be facing off in the World Series starting next week.
Maybe the Mets should wear those jerseys more often, since they won the game — beating the Pittsburgh Crawfords, the Pirates’ throwback of choice — 5-3.
