The first Saturday in May. The most exciting two minutes in sports got a little more exciting at Belmont on opening day. In true New York style, a cardboard box blew onto the track and horses had to dodge some local garbage. Fitting. Derby pick: Soup and Sandwich.

The Dodgers, sans Cody Bellinger, are taking heat in the standings from the in-state rival Giants and Padres. The Dodgers are in Milwaukee this weekend.

We bet against Dustin May (1-1, 2.53 ERA) last week and we (and the Padres) came back to win the long Sunday-nighter. No fault of May’s, who impressed, fanning 10 before leaving with a lead. The Brewers, who have played better on the road than they have at home, counter with April sensation Brandon Woodruff (2-0, 1.55 ERA).

This may be a breakout season for Woodruff, but he has a career 5.82 ERA facing the Dodgers. Play 20 units on the Dodgers.

The Jays scored six runs on Drew Smyly, added seven more and chopped down the Braves 13-5 in front of 1,629 rabid Dunedin fans. W has us at -822 seabiscuits.
