New York Yankees outfielder Brett Gardner is known for his hard-nosed play on the field, but on Saturday, he took a shot off the field, too.

During the Yankees’ 8-4 loss to the Cleveland Indians, a frustrated Gardner did his best Paul O’Neill impersonation. He threw his helmet into the dugout wall during the loss in which he went 0-for-4 with a strikeout.

But I’m sure he didn’t expect it to bounce back and hit him square in the face.

Gardner was OK, except possibly a little embarrassed it was caught on social media. It has been a rough road trip for the Yankees, who have lost four out of their last five games to the Blue Jays and Indians, which may have contributed to the veteran’s foul mood.
