Edwin Encarnacion will make his Yankees debut in the middle of the batting order.

Fans at Yankee Stadium will get their first look at Encarnacion in pinstripes with him batting fifth in the lineup as designated hitter against the Rays. Encarnacion, who leads the AL with 21 home runs, slides into an already strong batting order with DJ LeMahieu, Luke Voit, Aaron Hicks and Gary Sanchez preceding him.

The three-time All-Star came to the Bronx from the Seattle Mariners in exchange for pitching prospect Juan Then. Encarnacion has hit .241/.356/.531 in 65 games so far this season, and recently hit his 400th career home run. Since 2017, he’s logged a 125 OPS+.

With Aaron Judge and Giancarlo Stanton anticipated to return from injury soon, adding the 36-year-old slugger could provide an even larger offensive boost.

“We’re going to hit a lot of homers and win a lot of games too,” Encarnacion said Monday.
