Orlando Hernandez was finally allowed to remove the protective boot on his right foot after being examined in New York by team doctors on Tuesday. El Duque will now begin a program of light running and throwing in Florida, and the Mets want to see how he responds before setting any timetable for his return. Hernandez has been on the DL since the start of the season due to a problematic tendon in the foot.
