A week after being designated for assignment Morgan Ensberg was officially released by the Yankees today.
Ensberg, 33, made the team with a solid Spring Training and signed a one-year $1.75 million contract, which the Yankees will now eat.
Ensberg was given opportunities to perform with injuries to Alex Rodriugez and Wilson Betemit made him an off-again, on-again starter at third base. But Ensberg hit .203 in 74 at bats with one home run and four RBI.
